In 2000 the A1 Viennale bag appeared for the first time. In retrospect you could say: “A star was born.” Festival sponsor A1, whose idea it was to create a special bag for the Viennale, defined the format, the year’s color and that there would be a Velcro. Parameters that mostly stayed the same till today.For many it became a beloved item and after 12 years it’s hard to imagine the Viennale without it.

After a design by Bernhard Willhelm in 2010 and by Constanze-Carolin Riha by design-collektiv abartig in 2011 this year the Viennale took the opportunity to design the bags themselves. All in all there were five different looks and the final design was determined in a public voting. Finally the design “pinstriped” was voted best, a choice that makes the Viennale bag absolutely unique.
