El Realismo Socialista

Als „politische Soap Opera“ bezeichnete Ruiz den unvollendet gebliebenen EL REALISMO SOCIALISTA, der von der Freundschaft eines Parteifunktionärs und eines Tunichtguts aus der Arbeiterklasse handeln sollte. Geplant als satirischer Kommentar zum Selbstverständnis und zur Debattenkultur der Unidad Popular war der Film durchaus auch als agitatorischer Diskussionsbeitrag zum Thema „Wie kommt die Revolution in das Subjekt?“ gedacht. Dann allerdings wurde das Projekt im Stadium von über-vier-Stunden-Film-im-Rohschnitt Opfer der Zeitläufe in Gestalt des Militärputsches. Des 2016 wiedergefundenen Materials hat sich nun Valeria Sarmiento angenommen: eine Wieder-/Neuentdeckung!

As a “political soap opera”, Ruiz described the unfinished EL REALISMO SOCIALISTA, which was supposed to be about the friendship between a party official and a working-class never-do-well”. Planned as a satirical commentary on the self-image and debate culture of the Unidad Popular, the film was certainly intended as an agitational contribution to the discussion of "How does the revolution enter into the subject?" Then, however, at the stage of more than four hours of film-in-the-rough, the project became a victim of the times in form of the military coup. Valeria Sarmiento has now taken on the material recovered in 2016: a (re-)discovery!
