Ahora te vamos a llamar hermano

Drei Arbeiten aus unterschiedlichen Schaffensperioden. LA MALETA, Ruiz’ allererste Regiearbeit, ursprünglich als Langfilm geplant, aus Kostengründen dann nur 20 Minuten lang, ist die Geschichte eines Mannes, in dessen Koffer ein weiterer, kleinerer Mann versteckt ist. Was Ruiz‘ Werke später auszeichnen sollte, der surreal-avantgardistische Regiegestus, hier findet er sich bereits. Der Film galt viele Jahre als verschollen, doch als das Rohmaterial 2008 wiederentdeckt wurde, schnitt Ruiz ihn noch einmal neu. Dann EL TANGO …, der nächste hoffnungsfrohe Kandidat für das Ruiz’sche Langfilmdebüt. Aber das Projekt geriet ins Stocken und blieb als geschnittenes 35mm-Negativ ohne Tonspur liegen. Erst nach Ruiz’ Tod machte sich seine Kollaborateurin und Witwe Valeria Sarmiento an die Fertigstellung. Im Mittelpunkt steht der Witwer Señor Iriarte, ein verwirrter Gelehrter, der nach dem Tod seiner Frau von deren Geist heimgesucht wird. Schließlich AHORA TE VAMOS …, in dem Ruiz ein Treffen von Vertretern des Mapuche-Volkes mit Präsident Salvador Allende dokumentiert. (Matthias Greuling)

Dieser Film wird am 26.10. und 27.11. im Rahmen des Screenings RAÚL RUIZ - KURZFILMPROGRAMM 1 gezeigt. 

Three works from different creation periods. LA MALETA, Ruiz's very first directorial work, originally planned as a feature-length, then only 21 minutes long for financial reasons, is the story of a man with a suitcase in which a second smaller man is hidden. What would later characterize Ruiz's works, the surreal avant-garde directorial gesture, can already be encountered here. The film was considered lost for many years, but when the raw footage was rediscovered in 2008, Ruiz recut it. Then EL TANGO DEL VIUDO …, the next hopeful candidate for Ruiz's feature-length debut. But the project stalled and remained as an edited 35mm negative with no soundtrack. Only after Ruiz's death did his collaborator and widow, Valeria Sarmiento, set about completing it. It centers around the widower Señor Iriarte, a confused scholar who is haunted by his wife's ghost after her death. Finally, AHORA TE VAMOS, in which Ruiz documents a meeting between representatives of the Mapuche people and President Salvador Allende.

This film will be shown as part of the screening RAÚL RUIZ - SHORT FILM PROGRAMME 1 on the 26th of October and the 27th of November.
