L' Hypothèse du tableau volé

L’HYPOTHESE DE TABLEAU VOLE ist Ruiz’ zweite Zusammenarbeit mit Kameramann Sacha Vierny und dem Autor und Maler Pierre Klossowski: Eine mit minutiös argumentierenden Interpretationen und kunstvoll rekonstruierten Tableaux vivants in Szene gesetzte Recherche, die um eine Leerstelle kreist: ein fehlendes Bild in einer Serie von sieben Gemälden des fiktiven Künstlers Tonnerre aus dem 19. Jahrhundert, die ein Sammler in seiner luxuriösen Villa behaust und (im Dialog mit einem Off-Erzähler) auf ihre wechselseitigen Beziehungen untersucht. Sie zeigen opulente Ansichten aus der Mythologie, historische Genrestücke oder in einem verwicklungsreichen und dramatischen „roman à clef“ nacherzählte familiäre Szenen. Ähnliche Kolportage-Elemente treiben auch die Narration des direkt in Folge entstandenen Kurzfilms COLLOQUE DE CHIENS, der visuell über weite Strecken als filmischer Fotoroman erzählt wird. So entsteht Spannung aus der Reibung zwischen Stillstand und äußerster Bewegung. Auch ein Programm über das Kino selbst. (Silvia Hallensleben)

L'HYPOTHESE DE TABLEAU VOLE is Ruiz's second collaboration with cinematographer Sacha Vierny and author and painter Pierre Klossowski: a piece of research staged with meticulously argued interpretations and artfully reconstructed tableaux-vivants that revolves around a blank space: a missing image in a series of seven paintings by the fictional 19th-century artist Tonnerre from the 19th century, which a collector is keeping in his luxurious mansion and examining (in dialogue with an off-screen narrator) for their interrelationships. They feature opulent views from mythology, historical genre pieces, or family scenes retold in a convoluted and dramatic "roman à clef." Similar elements of colportage also drive the narration of the short film COLLOQUE DE CHIENS, made directly in succession, which is told visually over long stretches as a cinematic photo novel. Tension arises from the friction between standstill and extreme movement. This programme is also about cinema itself. (Silvia Hallensleben)
