One person - a universal self...a search

Working as an artist in painting and sculpture, in her AUTOPORTRAIT of 1972 Simone Fattal not only provides an overview of her work till then. More than that, she uses cinematographic means for a form of  self-quest and exploration, which points in turn, to the medium of film itself, to its conditions and opportunities.

Jurisdiction versus truth

A crime in New York's Central Park in 1989 and the subsequent legal scandal form the tragic starting point of the documentary THE CENTRAL PARK FIVE. The real culprit who brutally raped a female jogger and nearly beat to death, was convicted in 2002 - and five completely innocent youths from Harlem had previously spent between six and thirteen years in prison. The film examines the background and circumstances that led to this blatant miscarriage of justice, and demonstrates, how the the combination of questionable police methods and a biased judiciary culminates in a jurisdiction that has nothing to do with facts and truth. And so creates realities for the victims, that can neither be undone nor being compensated in any way.
