<i>Los</i> is the second in James Benning's installation of three documentary films about the Californian landscape. like in the other two films, <i>El Valley Centro</i> and the not yet finished <i>Sogobi</i>, the directors employs the same method: 35 shots of exactly two-and-a half minutes' length are shot from a stationary camera. <i>Los</i> deals with Los Angeles and consists of images shot at largely unpopulated spaces, thus evoking a city landscape that would certainly surprise even the inhabitants of the city. As it's always the case with Benning's films, this is an extraordinary project generating extraordinary results.
