This year the great American cult film director, composer, screenwriter, producer and actor John Carpenter is the center of a series of extraordinary events in Vienna!

The first event will take place at the renowned Gartenbaukino Cinema with an extensive program of his works - the first Carpenter retrospective in 25 years in Vienna. 13 selected films showing from May 20th to June 2nd  including classics such as  DARK STAR,  BIG TROBLE IN LITTLE CHINA, THE FOG, ESCAPE FROM NEW YORK, CHRISTINE,  STARMAN, THE THING und HALLOWEEN to name a few.
The second event will take place at the summer open air cinema KINO WIE NOCH NIE with a never-done-before dedication: a part of its program will be a Special John Carpenter Evening. 
Further, at Viennale 2016 the director will be a special guest at the gala screening of his film THEY LIVE and a subsequently appear on stage for a Q&A (November 2nd)
The spectacular highlight of the Carpenter Year commences on November 3rd, 2016  with the live event: "JOHN CARPENTER: Lost Themes - A Live Retrospective" at the Stadthalle - Halle F, presented by Barracuda Music. John Carpenter, who is responsible for the music of many of his own films, will present an evening of his compositions along with five musicians - a live performance of excerpts of his cinematic works on three screens. A unique combination of cinematic, and musical works of the great American director. 
On Friday the 13th of May, a kick-off event at Gartenbaukino gets everything rolling with a party and film presentation that simultaneously forms the start of an exclusive 3 day reduced price ticket pre-sales for the concert "JOHN CARPENTER Lost Themes - A Live Retrospective “ (Nov 3rd, Stadthalle - Halle F) and film retrospective.
 From 17th May, concert tickets can also be purchased through all ticket outlets and Wiener Stadthalle.
