The flimsy, miracle-medicine selling «Dr.» Pearly gets with a scantily refurbished wreck of a paddle steamer involved in a race on Mississippi and wins thanks to a brilliant firing system. Abstinence preachers, a vicious southern belle, a relaxed prison in self-service mode – Ford richly brings south state atmosphere. And so the end of the 19th century becomes, thanks to Will Rogers' comedian's talent, an extremely amusing matter.
