In the Daliang Mountain region of Sichuan, China, lives the ancient tribal Yi minority.
Their priests are called Bimo. For hundreds even thousands of years, the Bimo have relied on memorized scriptures to communicate their people's desires with the ghosts and spirits of the world. This film follows the story of three very different Bimos and bears witness to the immutability of traditions in the face of the instability of the modern world. «In China, there are lot of minorities who have their own believes to their ancestors and the ghost. Today their culture synchronizes to the mainstream culture, but those different cultures are fighting as well. There are a lot of changes, but the power of belief is forever, and this is the only thing which supports those tribes still living a very hard life in the poor mountain. This documentary took me four years in the Daliang mountain region of Sichuan, China; I hope I can shoot them after my long observation, to express their spirit world. Even their life is still full of pain and conflict, but they are still calm and immovable. They coexist with heaven and earth. This documentary presents my respect to them.» (Yang Rui)
