DER TIGER VON ESCHNAPUR is an adventure drama film. It is the first of two films comprising what has come to be known as Fritz Lang's Indian Epic; the other is DAS INDISCHE GRABMAL as a direct continuation. Both films partly reflect the late 1950's, early 1960's craze for "cast of thousands" spectacle films and are based on a screenplay he co-wrote 40 years erlier with his then-wife Thea von Harbou.
