Mothers of Life tells about the destinies of Nubetya Yaptiks nomadic family in the Yamal Peninsula, in Eastern Siberia, from 1992 to 2001. In the beginning of the film the father of the family tells the story of his forefather who, together with his family, had to leave his home running away from an evil deed, which haunts the family. It is falling apart little by little, and eventually loses everything it has. A documentary film about a mother and a daughter, Myusena and Tatyana. The two women wander from one hut to another, from people to people, looking for their place in the tundra.
