La cuerda floja tells the story of the Aztlán Circus, which is as small as the family that comprises it: Marce, his wife Adriana, their two children Mario and Jacqueline; and the latter’s boyfriend, Carmelo. They all roam the villages around Texcoco, on the northern outskirts of Mexico City. The father, Marce, is the descendent of circus artists who were, themselves, descendents of circus artists dating back seven generations, transmitting their art from parents to children. They live in a dilapidated, narrow camper, painted sky blue, which tows an old trailer. The only animals they have are two little dogs painted bright pink that do somersaults, two goats, a horse and an ostrich.
