Again the prison, again the mistreatment of a young prisoner. What appeared on screen in MICHELE ALLA RICERCA DELLA FELICITÀ is now read by a voice over. The tragedy of the oppression of man by man is sublimated in the images of the concentration camp of Auschwitz, edited with shots of Antonioni’s IL DESERTO ROSSO, in which Monica Vitti repeatedly tries to cry but doesn’t succeed. Alberto Grifi’s last film is also his theoretical testament.
