Alien

Two years after Spielberg’s pacifist aliens in CLOSE ENCOUNTERS OF THE THIRD KIND, Ridley Scott, then a director of advertising clips, countered by presenting a bio-mechanical beast from outer space designed by Swiss artist Hans Ruedi Giger and simply called “Alien”. On an alien planet, a spider-like creature sucks on to John Hurt’s face. The human body thus becomes the breeding ground of a worm-type monster. The sexless monster from an alien world grows incessantly and decimates the crew of the cargo spaceship Nostromo ruthlessly. The android on board, played by Ian Holm, admiringly refers to the alien as a perfect organism. However, the film hardly ever shows the monster at all. Instead, our imagination goes haywire. Only Sigourney Weaver, at the beginning of her career, is able to cope with the monster.

Please be aware that the 0 a.m. screening at the Gartenbaukino will take place in the night between October 28 and 29.
