Xaver Schwarzenberger

Born 1946 in Vienna, is an Austrian cinematographer and director. He has worked as a cinematographer since the early 1970s, including for Axel Corti (EIN JUNGER MANN AUS DEM INNVIERTEL, 1973). Schwarzenberger photographed numerous feature films by Rainer Werner Fassbinder: LILI MARLEEN (1980), LOLA (1981) and DIE SEHNSUCHT DER VERONIKA VOSS (1982). For the latter he received the German Camera Award. He made his directorial debut in 1983 with the TV feature film DER STILLE OZEAN (1983), which was awarded a Silver Bear at the 1983 Berlinale. Since then he has regularly directed cinema and television films, and in 2004 he received the German Camera Award for his life's work.
