Born in Manila in 1975. He studied art at the university Ateneo de Manila till 1997. He was inspired by local pioneers as Kidlat Tahimik, Mike de Leon and Ishmael Bernal. John Torres made his debut with the political paranoiathriller TODO TODO TEROS in 2006 and is currently one of the most promising young Philippine filmmakers. In 2008 he directed his second feature film, YEARS WHEN I WAS A CHILD OUTSIDE. After REFRAINS HAPPEN LIKE REVOLUTIONS IN A SONG (2010) his latest film LUKAS THE STRANGE had its world premiere this year at the International Film Festival Rotterdam.
