James Benning

Born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, in 1942. Studied mathematics, then film at the University of Wisconsin. Since the seventies, he has been directing as one of the outstanding representatives of the U.S. avant-garde film. Especially the confrontation with American landscape occupies much space in his work. His films are regularly presented at the Viennale. James Benning teaches at the California Institute of the Arts (CalArts). STEMPLE PASS is like NIGHTFALL part of the project TWO CABINS.
