In 1996 the Straubs resumed their work on Schoenberg, or, more precisely, on the one-act short opera \"From Today Until Tomorrow\". Composed by Schoenberg in 1929, the opera is based on a libretto by his wife as well as on his personal tragic and painful experiences. When a couple returns home from a party, thy become entangled in a dull and jealous argument about the meaning of marriage and its petit bourgeois implications. Schoenberg is playing with the feelings and vanity of the so-called \"modern people\" of a society that Hölderin referred to with the words \"It is the soulless people who quarrel to feel again\". This is a film lesson full of drama, subtle humor, excellent musical performances and great pieces of acting.
