TRAFIC

Hulot works in the automotive industry as an adman and is about to travel to the Amsterdam car show with a colleague, where they will present a new camper model. The adversities involved with motor traffic, the chaos on the highways, accidents and the strange fruits of motorization all present obstacles to the success of their journey. Hulot’s trip turns into a long and comic odyssey along the breadth of technology.

“Trafic,” claimed one critic, is “pure jazz.” Cars are instruments in a mad orchestra, consumed by the oddest dissonances imaginable. But “Trafic” is also a prophesy about the future of human mobility, about motion, inertia and catastrophe. And in the end it is also the work of Jacques Tati, filled with brilliant and innovative ideas, sarcastic observations and liberating humor.
