PAUL CéZANNE IM GESPRäCH MIT JOACHIM GASQUET
Fascinated by Paul Cézanne's work and mind, the Straubs soon developed a feeling of affinity for the painter. Based on an audio recording of Cézanne's conversation with a young admirer named Joachim Gasquet, they created their film \"Cézanne: A Conversation with Joachim Gasquet\". It is a montage comprising paintings of the artist, footage shot at the foot of Mont Sainte-Victoire and film scenes from both Jean Renoir's \"Madame Bovary\" and the Straubs' \"The Death of Empedocles\". The film is homage to light, color, painting, nature, cinema and the terrible and glorious world of reality.
