The Viennale has a tradition of presenting the works of Austrian female filmmakers, but above all the pronounced, distinctive voices of these directors in the context of domestic filmmaking! In 2023, together with the KINO VOD CLUB, we are therefore delighted to present here selected works by four female filmmakers whose successful, multi-voiced work has had a significant impact on the perception of Austrian cinema both nationally and internationally since the 1980s - not least through their lusty subversion of the patriarchal power structures still in effect both in front of and behind the camera.
