There and there, excesses of US-American capitalism during the Great Depression of the 1930s form the background for a perfectly formed 16mm fantasy. The popular explorations and fragmentary narratives of Sílvia das Fadas unfold their full effect only through the imaginative power of the audience, such as the travel diary A CASA, A VERDADEIRA E A SEGUINTE, AINDA ESTÁ POR FAZER: Following social utopian impulses, the creators of the visited locate the banalities of mindless living. The stations, such as the red house of a late-appointed socialist or a "conspiracy of equals" in the world's fairest cemetery, where each deceased person, regardless of rank or gender, is chiseled with his or her own image and poem, are becoming ever more colourful and exuberant.
