Celebrated as a vacation destination since the 60’s, the island of Ibiza, 80 km off the Spanish coast at Valencia, has gone through several phases over the last half century, first as a hippie paradise, later as a vacation playground, then as a resort for upscale family tourism. More recently it has become a sort of Hollywood of electronic music, with musicians, DJs and promoters working on a sophisticated entertainment machine to satisfy western music lovers and all-round pleasure seekers in an environment of laid-back freedom.
