FURY is Fritz Lang's first American film. It is a ferocious drama attacking lynching, a major social problem in the United States at the time. It also allegorically refers to problems in Nazi Germany, and the rise of Nazi led attacks against Jewish civilians on the streets there. The fact that the hero is lynched recalls the finale of both METROPOLIS and M.
