LE FILS
SON, THE
Olivier runs a carpentry workshop in a grey Belgian industrial town for youths from troubled backgrounds. One day a new apprentice, 16-year-old Francis, who spent five years in juvenile detention, presents himself. The visibly agitated Olivier claims that his class is full and the boy is sent away. When his ex-wife, Magali, tells him, that shes pregnant and intends to marry her lover, Olivier changes his mind: He allows the youth to take part in his training program. Five years earlier, we learn, Oliviers son had been killed in a robbery, and Francis, then 11, was the killer.
