Douro, faina fluvial

When cinema was not yet domesticated, Manoel de Oliveira shot his first film: an ode to the river Douro at Porto, a discreet and yet openly poetic exploration of the life of the workers at its banks and in its waters. In 1994, Oliveira modified the film by adding a new, avant-garde soundtrack by Luís de Freitas Branco.
