A caça

Oliveira’s short classic is about an accident that befalls a small boy in the marshlands near his village. He becomes mired in a bog and his companion rounds up huntsmen and villagers to form a human chain to pull him out. As released, A CAÇA was interpreted as a parable of human solidarity, though Oliveira had intended a downbeat ending. Censors, however, demanded a more optimistic outcome.
