Anna Odell invites us to a grim class-reunion with a twist. What happens when old hierarchies and truths are questioned from an unexpected voice? The film traverses the border between fiction and reality with Odell playing the main character using her own identity and life story to go into unspoken and invisible hierarchical structure. By processing the story in multiple layers, the complexity of power and exclusion is revealed and the dynamics of the group is exposed. “The idea for THE REUNION came to me after having found out that my old classmates, people i had spent nine years with, had arranged a reunion to which everyone except me was invited. i became curious as to why they had decided to exclude me. Was it a fear of change? due to the fact that i am now often portrayed in swedish media as a provocative artist? What would have happened if Anna Odell attended? My own experiences have served as a foundation in my quest to find out what happens when old hierarchies are exposed and questioned.” (Anna Odell)
