Ein ABEND MIT JOSEF WINKLER

V'09

Carinthian author Josef Winkler, well known also beyond the boundaries of Austria and awarded with numerous prizes, is a jury-member for this year’s Vienna Film Prize. Most recently Winkler caused quite a stir with his radical reckoning with the Carinthian government at the opening of the Ingeborg-Bachmann-Competition, when he accused the Carinthian functionary responsible for corruption and “culturelessness”. This year the Viennale is dedicating him an «Evening with Josef Winkler».
On October 30, 9 p.m. at the Künstlerhaus the festival will present the documentation Der Kinoleinwandgeher by Michael Pfeifenberger, a free, associative film-portrait of the author Josef Winkler, his travels, his writing, his family.
Winkler will read selected texts from his books and, following Winkler’s invitation, Oliver Welter, singer of the Carinthian band Naked Lunch, will provide the musical part of the evening. An almost old-fashioned sounding «Evening with film, literature und music» that will doubtlessly be a secret highlight of this year’s Viennale program.
