Vienna Film Award
The Vienna Film Award is awarded by a five-person national jury of representatives from various film sectors. This honor was presented for the first time in 1991.
The winner is selected from Austrian feature-length films and documentaries that have premiered or have been publicly screened since the last Viennale. On the initiative of the Viennale, the Vienna Film Prize will be a kind of double-prize this year, awarded separately in both the Feature Film and Documentary categories. This means that instead of one prize there will be two now, each of which consists of prize money and contributions in kind worth EUR 14,000. The Viennale would like to take this opportunity to thank the companies Kodak and Synchro Film & Video, who were willing to raise significantly their contributions to the Vienna Film Prize, as well as the Culture Department of the City of Vienna, which also raised its donated cash prize. Due to this generosity and the commitment of everyone involved, the Vienna Film Prize now represents twice as much encouragement and acknowledgement of the work of young Austrian filmmakers. 2009
